It is just one year since North Nottinghamshire Enterprises became the new owner and manager of Blackburn House (formerly know as Boughton Pumping Station) and the building is thriving.

Since taking over on 8th September 2006, the transformation is spectacular, major renovation, maintenance and redecoration work has taken place and the building is once again a hive of activity, offering modern, professional office accommodation and conference facilities.

Over 250 conferences have taken place in the last year and we have welcomed over 6,000 visitors to the site. The building is now occupied by 11 tenants and a further 4 have a registered address here.

Our other achievements over the past year include:

  • Paddy Tipping MP, Sherwood Constituency re-launched the building on Friday 8th December 2006, an event that was attended by over 70 guests, which included local businesses, contractors that worked on renovating the building, representatives from the district council and members of the local community.
  • Hosting a Centenary Celebration to mark the fact that the building is 100 years old, over 100 guests were treated to entertainment from celebrity speaker former British & Irish Lion and England International Martin Bayfield who recalled hilarious and insightful stories from his Rugby days.

The building is now home to businesses from various industry types, including a Beauty Salon owned by beauty therapist Clare Coleman. Clare chose Blackburn House as the venue to locate Cinderella's Beauty Salon as she could see that the services on offer were what she needed to help her to grow her business.

Clare said:
‘I have found the help and support from everybody at Blackburn House fantastic. The premises are second to none, and compliment my business, reflecting a calm, tranquil, and professional image!'

Another of our new tenants are In Car Network, jointly owned by brothers Matt and Nick Janaway, the business sells in car audio equipment over the Internet. During their search for offices Matt and Nick viewed various premises, but chose Blackburn House due to the additional services that are on offer which include:

  • Reception, telephone and Internet
  • Business Support

Matt said:
"Blackburn House offers great benefits for ourselves and we see a very bright future together".

We are now taking bookings for Christmas Parties and Christmas Lunches and we have also applied for a licence to hold civil marriages and civil partnerships at Blackburn House, for further information please contact 01623 827990.
